Step 1: When training a neural network, we split our data into three parts: training set, validation set, and test set.
Step 2: The training set is used to teach the neural network how to make predictions.
Step 3: The validation set is used to check how well the model is performing while it is still being trained.
Step 4: By using the validation set, we can adjust settings (called hyperparameters) to improve the model's performance.
Step 5: We do not use the test set during training or validation to ensure we can fairly evaluate the model's performance later.
